The dragon is lit; the leaf is not

Why this shop runs at full brightness

Street graphics work at distance first and detail second, so the dragon is drawn as an outline that reads from across a room and only rewards a close look afterwards. The palette is deliberately two lit colours and gold on black, because a third lit colour would flatten the whole thing into noise. Chinese tea iconography — dragon, lantern, seal, cartouche — is used here at signage scale rather than as a small polite motif, which is closer to how those images actually appear in a city than how they appear on a tea box. The tea is never given the glow treatment: it stays a photograph so that the graphic has something real to wrap around. Circuit traces along the border are the join between the two, an old motif drawn with a new hand. Loud is the point, but only the drawing is loud.
