Metal poster lettering is built to be decoded rather than read, and that is the rule this shop follows: the blackletter is spiked, interlocked and dripping, and legibility is handed to the small caption underneath instead. Everything sits on near-black paper with dust and scratches printed in, so the page feels like a photocopy that has been passed around. Colour is limited to bone white, scorched gold and one dark red halftone, which is the only warmth allowed in. Chinese tea belongs here more easily than it looks: charcoal-roasted oolong and aged pu-erh are the darkest, most mineral things in the cupboard, and they photograph almost black. The red bloom behind the leaf stands in for the liquor the dry leaf will make. Read it as a record sleeve for something slow rather than loud.
