Chinese tea · midnight field, one gold orbit

One gold orbit around the leaf

Thirty-four Chinese teas placed in a night field with a single planet and one thin gold ring — the leaf cropped by the frame, the type held to one corner.

A midnight blue field with a small amber planet ringed in gold, faint constellations, and a pile of gold-tipped ripe pu-erh entering from the lower corner

Why this shop sits in the dark

The page is mostly empty and deliberately dark, which gives a single gold line somewhere to be seen; on a busy sheet that line would be lost. Composition is off-centre by rule — type in one corner, subject entering from another — so the void between them carries the weight instead of a border. The orbit ring is the only graphic device and it is always thin, always drawn once, because a second ring turns geometry into pattern. Photographs are cropped by the frame rather than fitted inside it, which keeps a pile of leaf reading as a landmass instead of a product cut-out. Chinese tea belongs in this register because its scale is genuinely ambiguous — a pressed block photographed close is indistinguishable from something geological. Specification stays in mono, tracked wide and set small, so the sheet keeps one editorial voice and one caption voice.
