A catalogue of thirty-four teas is a data set before it is a shop, and a data set wants one typeface, two weights and a grid. Using a single grotesque for the English, the pinyin and the caption means the difference between them is carried by weight and slope, never by decoration. The rule that ends in a filled dot is borrowed from transit diagrams, where it means the line stops here, and on a product page it means the description is finished. Angles are limited to horizontal, vertical and forty-five degrees, so no line on the page is arbitrary. Colour arrives in flat fields with hard edges, taken from the leaf, never as a gradient. What is left is a page that can be read in a second and is the same page for the cheapest green as for the oldest dark tea.
